  • This workshop is designed to enhance participants’ cultural awareness by exploring how day to day interactions, even the subtle and unintentional, can be perceived as insensitive or insulting.

  • This workshop explores the dynamics of representation, choice, and interest when it comes to assigned reading within a school’s curriculum.

  • This workshop explores the challenges that can be present when engaging in media that uses insensitive language or slurs in the classroom.

  • This virtual workshop examines the need for personal accountability and provides strategies for reconciling harm done within a community.

    Objectives: Explore the ways in which individual accountability impacts systemic oppression • Identify global communities who have used acknowledgment, transparency, and active healing to foster cultures of accountability • Discuss barriers and strategies to repair harm done within a community

  • This workshop invites participants to explore and celebrate the concept of Black joy, emphasizing the importance of authentic expression and creativity in countering stereotypes. Through engaging activities and discussions, participants will dive into the richness of Black culture and the power of joy as a form of resistance.

  • This workshop delves into the history of elections in the United States, focusing on the policies, strategies, and violence used to keep marginalized groups out of the voting booth. 

    Objectives: Learn about historic voting policies and practices • Understand modern-day disenfranchisement tactics • Brainstorm support strategies for voting rights in your community

Affinity Groups

Affinity Group spaces allow community members to come together and take part in safe spaces for authentic connection with those who share similar experiences and backgrounds to uplift a culture of diversity and inclusion by acknowledging and celebrating different identities and cultures.

Affinity Groups help participants feel empowered to advocate for their needs, providing emotional support for participants to share their experiences, challenges, and victories with peers who understand their unique struggles.

Affinity Groups are run by DT Staff Members of that specific group, and include the following identities:
